Looking at the footage was a person's job. The only thing saved was the ladder. The drone launches from the truck bed at 6:00 while your tech is still badging in and pulling his bait. By the time he has his scanner synced, the exterior is done: the full fence line photographed station by station, the roof flown, the dock face shot at both ends. He gets seven exceptions instead of a six-hour lap.
He walks the racking aisles and services the interior devices, because that is still a person opening a station and reading a glue board. Four hundred dollars is not a reason to do anything. Look at the second line instead. Those 2.6 hours are the difference between one commercial stop a day and two. If your commercial route runs at roughly $260 per stop and you add one stop a week that you could not physically fit before, that is about $13,500 in annual billing off the same truck and the same technician. That is the case, not the labor saving. The labor saving only has to not lose money.
The third line is the one you cannot put a number on honestly: the audit you do not fail. Ask your branch manager what one lost food account is worth over three years and decide for yourself.
A drone cannot open a tamper-resistant station. It cannot read a glue board, weigh a bait block, tell you the rodenticide is soft, or replace a pheromone lure. Every device that has to be physically opened is still a person opening it, and federal and state rules about where rodenticide sits and how it is secured are not satisfied by a photograph.

It cannot go in the crawlspace, the void above the drop ceiling in the break room, or the pit under the dock leveler where the German roaches actually live. Indoor flight in an active warehouse with forklift traffic is a fight with the plant's safety manager you will usually lose, which is why the honest use of this today is exterior, roof and perimeter only.
It also cannot judge. A photograph of grain spillage at the rail siding is a fact. Whether that spillage means you write a corrective action, call the plant manager, or quietly mention it to the sanitation lead so nobody gets embarrassed in front of the auditor — that is your branch manager reading a relationship, and no camera is going to do it.
And your customer has to agree in writing before anything flies. Many food plants have site rules about aerial cameras. Get that permission into the service agreement, not on the morning of.
Do not buy a drone. Contract one flight, on your single largest food-safety account, on the day of the monthly service, and ask for one thing back: the exterior and roof exception list before your tech finishes the interior. Compare that list to what the notes on that account have said for the last twelve months. If the flight finds three conducive conditions your notes have called clean since last summer, you have your answer and you have something to show that plant's QA manager at the annual program review.
If you or an employee flies commercially, yes — that is an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, and it is a written test, not a formality. Most pest control companies starting this year contract a local inspection flight service by the visit and keep the pest work on their own license. Revisit owning the aircraft after twelve accounts ask for it.
As supporting evidence of an exterior inspection and a conducive condition, yes, and a dated photograph is stronger than a line of typed notes. As evidence that a device was serviced, no. The scan record from the station itself is still what proves the device was opened, and that has not changed.
Mostly, today. The math works when the exterior lap is long — long fence lines, big roofs, multiple docks. On a small strip-center account your tech walks the perimeter in eleven minutes. Where it still earns its keep on smaller buildings is the roof itself: bird work, exhaust fans and gutter harborage nobody has been on top of since the last owner.

Consistency across your busy season is the thing an auditor is actually testing for.
