The platform team's highest-leverage job, after the secure substrate, is curating that library and making it genuinely easy to find and use.
At one workflow, governance means watching that workflow. At a hundred, you need fleet-level visibility: a single dashboard that shows every active automation, its owner, its blast radius, its recent failure rate, and its credential scope. The questions leadership must be able to answer instantly are "what agents are touching our payment systems right now," "which workflows have a failure rate that spiked this week," and "who do I call to pause this one." If those answers require an investigation, you have already lost control of the fleet.
Fleet governance also means lifecycle. Workflows that stop being used should be retired, not left running with live credentials. Sequencing matters as much as architecture. The pattern that works is to harden the platform on the first one or two workflows, prove the guardrails and the audit pipeline under real load, and only then open it up to additional teams.
